Apply to the Union Programming Council

Freshman Ambassador Board

Freshman Ambassador Board Application

Welcome to the U! As a freshman, you are entering one of the most exciting years of your life and the Union Programming Council want to help make it even better! The Union Programming Council (UPC) is dedicated to providing an exciting and positive on-campus experience for students at the University of Utah. Through our 5 different boards: Arts & Special Events, Community Service, Crimson Nights, Feed U Pantry, and the Freshman Ambassador Board, we host events at the Student Union like Crimson Nights, Oktoberfest, and Silent Disco, as well as provide opportunities to serve the community. No matter what your interests, you are sure to find something that appeals to you! As a freshman, you have the opportunity to be a part of one of the most hands-on and interactive boards the university offers, the Freshman Ambassador Board or as we like to call it, FAB.

As a member you will not only get to plan your own events but also develop both leadership and hard skills, intern for multiple other UPC boards, and create lifelong friendships. Past FABs have planned Crimson Nights Haunted Hallway, Student Film Festival, Closet Revamp, and so much more.

We know you are probably feeling overwhelmed going into your first year. We all did. But being involved on campus is one of the best things you can do for your college career. As a FAB you will be expected to comply with a few simple requirements:

  • Attend a weekly meeting
  • Attend a retreat
  • Engage in learning about other Union Programming Council boards
  • Be active in planning and programming of FAB events
  • Bring a fun and positive attitude to the board
  • Be in your first year at the University of Utah
  • Participate in other events and activities hosted by UPC

Applications are due by September 4th, 2026. Interviews will take place September 8 - 11, 2026.

Contact Cal Taggart, the Director of FAB, with any questions or concerns at u1464736@utah.edu. Go Utah!
